At Meta Reality Labs, we are on a mission to unleash human potential by eliminating the barriers between intent and action through advanced technology. We are seeking a talented Research Engineer to contribute to our pioneering work on neuromotor interfaces, utilizing non-invasive electromyography (EMG) to enhance user interaction in AR/VR environments.

Key Responsibilities

As our new Research Engineer, you will:

  • Drive applied research to enhance neuromotor interface capabilities.
  • Design and execute experiments focused on collecting neuromotor data and assessing both human and model performance.
  • Develop tools and methods to analyze and utilize complex multimodal datasets.
  • Set short-term research objectives that align with engineering requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with scientists and engineers to transform scientific insights into innovative technologies and user experiences.
  • Facilitate the transition of projects from research phases into tangible products.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree completion is required prior to employment start.
  • Proficient in Python and libraries used in scientific computing such as the SciPy ecosystem and Pandas.
  • A Master's degree in a relevant technical field.
  • Strong grasp of quantitative methods and a rapid learner of new technical skills.
  • Legal work authorization in the country of employment at the start of employment and maintained throughout the period of employment.
  • Experience with software architecture for large-scale applications.
  • Proven ability to work across cultural and disciplinary boundaries.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computational Neuroscience, or related areas.
  • Independently capable of setting technical and research directions.
  • Skilled in rapid prototyping and disciplined software development.
  • Experience in developing full ML pipelines from dataset processing to software integration.
  • Background in industrial software engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience in transitioning ML-driven projects from research into production stages.
  • Familiarity with scientific communication tools like Jupyter and Matplotlib.
