About the Position

As a Research Engineering/Scientist Associate III, you will play a critical role in supporting innovative research at the Morikawa Lab within our Department of Neuroscience. This opportunity is designed for dedicated professionals eager to contribute towards our understanding of the neurobiology of addiction and reward learning through a variety of research methods.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct behavioral conditioning studies with rodents, including data measurement and analysis.
  • Perform electrophysiological recordings and histological analyses of rodent brain slices.
  • Execute stereotaxic surgeries on rodents.
  • Assist in training and developing fellow lab members.

General Notes

This role is initially assigned for one year, with potential renewal based on performance, progress towards research goals, and funding availability.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in Neuroscience or a closely related field is required.
  • For consideration a Master’s degree plus two years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree plus four years of closely related experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in rodent stereotaxic surgery strongly preferred.
  • Skills in electrophysiology and histology will be advantageous.
  • Proficiency in data management tools such as Excel and Prism is desirable.
