About the Role

Our project focuses on enhancing the reliability of Large Language Models (LLMs). LLMs often fail to execute tasks perfectly. You will develop techniques and infrastructure to make LLMs more dependable by analyzing examples and creating solutions. We aim to test these improvements in real-world applications.

Responsibilities

Research Interns merge inquiry with practice. Collaborate with leading researchers and fellow doctoral candidates to advance your career and contribute to groundbreaking research. Mandatory pairings with mentors enhance learning and community involvement. This 12-week internship emphasizes presenting findings, collaborating within the research community, and contributing to our vibrant research environment. While internships are available year-round, they usually start in the summer.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science or a related STEM field.

Other Requirements

  • Interns must be physically located at their manager’s Microsoft worksite for the duration of the internship.
  • Submit a minimum of two reference letters. Notifications to references occur upon application submission, so alert your referees in advance for prompt responses.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven collaboration skills with researchers and product teams.
  • Experience with LLMs including training, fine-tuning, decoding, and augmentation.
  • Familiarity with non-statistical reasoning techniques such as SAT solving, theorem provers, and knowledge representation.

Compensation

The base pay range for this internship is $6,290 - $12,170 per month. For specific locations like the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City, the range is $8,060 - $13,240 per month. Certain roles may also offer additional benefits and compensation. .
