Join Sony AI as a Research Intern in Privacy-Preserving Machine Learning (PPML)

Sony AI is on the lookout for Research Interns to be part of our cutting-edge Privacy-Preserving Machine Learning (PPML) team. Our focus lies in both fundamental and applied research with an emphasis on constructing responsibly-designed vision foundation models. As a research intern, you'll conduct innovative research, develop methodologies, and design prototype solutions.

Roles and Responsibilities

As a Research Intern, you will:

• Conduct pioneering research in large vision foundation models, data synthesis, federated learning, and knowledge distillation, focusing on architecture and methodology design.
• Propose and implement innovative ideas autonomously.
• Possess a deep understanding of large vision foundation model development and various computer vision (CV) applications like image classification, object detection, pose detection, and semantic image segmentation.
• Write reports and deliver presentations to both internal and external audiences.
• Contribute to library and tool development for research and business support.
• Publish influential research outcomes in top-tier conferences and journals.

Required Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate should have:

• A current master's/PhD degree in computer science or a related field, or be in the process of obtaining one.
• Publications or expertise in computer vision applications (e.g., object detection, segmentation), vision and multi-modal foundation models, data synthesis, knowledge distillation, federated learning, etc.
• Clear and precise communication skills for presenting research.
• Excellent analytical and programming skills in large-scale deep learning.
• Familiarity with Python, Pytorch, etc.
• Experience with research communities, including published papers at conferences like CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, etc.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
