Job Overview - Research Manager

The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (COM), one of the nation's oldest medical schools, is renowned for excellence in healthcare education and groundbreaking research. As part of this prestigious institution, the Department of Biostatistics, Health Informatics, and Data Sciences (BHIDS) invites applications for a full-time Research Manager position. This role is within the Biostatistics and Informatics Shared Resource (BISR) and supports various research and administrative projects, cancer clinical protocols, and grant applications. The position reports directly to the Director of the Cancer Center BISR.

Essential Functions

  • Manage, oversee, and conduct research activities, including project development, data collection, and data analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with UC and National Cancer Institute (NCI) regulations and policies.
  • Track and reconcile BISR faculty and staff efforts across various grants and the institution's future P30 Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG).
  • Assist in disseminating research findings and maintaining systems for tracking related presentations, publications, and outputs.
  • Manage shared resource data via the Stratocore PPMS system for BISR dashboards and prepare initial P30 NCI CCSG applications.
  • Coordinate and aid in external funding proposal development, including project planning, grant preparation, and manuscript collaboration with cancer center members.
  • Collaborate actively with various directors and teams within the Cancer Center and BHIDS.
  • Supervise exempt and non-exempt staff, including tasks like performance evaluations, time-off approvals, and more.
  • Develop research agendas using appropriate analytical methods and translate findings into impactful policy recommendations.
  • Author and publish white papers, conference reports, opinion articles, blogs, and policy briefs.

Required Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, or a related field is required.

Required Experience

A minimum of four (4) years in research, staff, or administrative roles in academic, government, or private sectors.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Biostatistics with clinical trial experience.
  • At least 3 years as a biostatistician consultant or statistical analyst.
  • Familiarity with Biostatistics and Bioinformatics software (SAS, R).
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and assess professional teams.
  • Proficiency in managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
