Job Summary
Northeastern University's Institute for Experiential AI has opened a position for a Research Scientist focusing on the intersection of artificial intelligence and health/wellness. The Research Scientist will be based at either the Boston, MA or Charlotte, NC campus and will conduct applied research, prepare work for journal/conference submissions, contribute to extramural funding applications, and manage projects. The position has a three-year renewable term.
Minimum Qualifications, Values & Abilities Needed for this Role
A Ph.D. in computer science, AI, Data Science, computational biology, or a related field with relevance to health or healthcare, along with a record of noteworthy post-Ph.D. research, as demonstrated by publications, grants, software products, and other scholarly impact measures, is required. Experience in preparing proposals for research funding, participating in team science projects, and project management experience are highly desirable.

The ideal candidate should be able to lead a research program and secure extramural funding, ensure scientific reproducibility of results and support the ethical use of data and algorithms, possess excellent written, verbal communication skills and be able to interact effectively with a range of stakeholders, respect diversity and acknowledge the significance of multidisciplinary teams, have an entrepreneurial mindset and be able to work independently and innovatively.
AI in Health
Applicants who have a strong research record using AI in a health-related discipline, possess a Ph.D. in computer science, machine learning, AI or a related computational field or a Ph.D. in a health-related discipline with vast experience in experimental science, devices/technology, data collection, unique populations, etc., will be considered. Applicants must have relevant experience of 2-3 years and the ability to lead several projects concurrently.
Required Documents

The research statement should address questions about your research contributions, future research directions, funding received and your experiences with industrial collaborations.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
The responsibilities include co-developing, collaboratively leading, and participating in research projects, securing research funding, mentoring postdocs and students, representing the university, and performing university service. Research Scientists are expected to obtain an average of $300K per year by the third year of their appointment.
