Research Scientist, AI Core Machine Learning at Meta

Meta is seeking a talented Research Scientist to join the Ads Ranking team within the Monetization organization. This role focuses on advancing state-of-the-art AI technologies to enhance and expand our suite of products. Our team values significant investments in groundbreaking Ads ranking models and scalable infrastructures, integrating fundamental research with new Machine Learning tools and platforms. This facilitates the development of reusable solutions across diverse products.

Responsibilities

As a Research Scientist on our team, you will:

  • Advance intelligent machine technologies.
  • Conduct research on the semantics of diverse data types (images, video, text, audio, etc.).
  • Lead initiatives in Deep Learning advancements.
  • Manage research projects with moderate to high complexity and scope.
  • Define short to medium-term objectives for the Monetization organization.
  • Publish influential research within AI and Machine Learning communities.
  • Design and implement end-to-end systems including policies, processes, methods, tests, and components.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to contribute to Meta's product development.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. The degree must be completed before joining Meta.
  • A Ph.D. in Machine Learning, AI, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, or a closely related field, or equivalent practical experience. The degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
  • Experience using AI or ML methodologies to solve modeling problems.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or Java.
  • Work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization.
  • Research experience in areas such as Deep Learning, Data Representation, Sequential Decision Making, Reinforcement Learning, and/or Graph Learning.

Preferred Qualifications

We prefer candidates who have:

  • A proven track record demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, or first-authored publications at major conferences like NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, or AAAI.
  • Experience developing large-scale Machine Learning models from inception to business impact.
  • Experience working and communicating effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Demonstrated research and software engineering experience through internships, work, coding competitions, or significant contributions to open-source repositories (e.g., GitHub).
  • Experience handling and analyzing high-volume, high-dimensionality data from various sources.
  • A strong ability to solve complex problems, evaluate alternative solutions, and make informed decisions.

Compensation

The expected salary range for this position is $117,000 to $173,000 per year, plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Individual compensation will be determined based on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Additional benefits details are available on our .
