Meta is actively seeking a Research Scientist to join our Ads Ranking team within the Monetization organization. This role is pivotal in advancing state-of-the-art AI. Our key investments focus on pioneering Ads ranking models and infrastructure that enable multiple products by combining fundamental research, new ML tools, and reusable platforms.

The ideal candidate will be regarded as an expert in research areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computational Statistics, and Applied Mathematics. Key topics include:

  • Foundations of Generative Modeling
  • Compression and Information Theory

The successful candidate will be passionate about developing new scientific approaches to understand intelligence, as well as implementing this research to meet product needs. Primary Responsibilities

  • Help advance the science and technology of intelligent machines.
  • Conduct research that enables understanding the semantics of data (images, video, text, audio, and other modalities).
  • Identify and define short and medium-term objectives for the Monetization org.
  • Produce and present publications to influence the AI and Machine Learning research community.
  • Work closely with cross-functional partners and contribute to Meta’s research product development.
  • Design policies, processes, procedures, methods, tests, and/or components from inception to end-to-end systems.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently obtaining a PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, AI, Applied Mathematics, Computational Statistics, or a relevant technical field. The degree must be completed before joining Meta.
  • Currently obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field. The degree must be completed before joining Meta.
  • Research experience in Machine Learning, AI, Deep learning, Computer Perception, Optimization, Reinforcement Learning, Representation Learning, or related areas.
  • Proficiency in Python, C++, Java, or other related programming languages.
  • Experience in solving modeling problems using AI or Machine Learning methodologies.
  • Work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and the ability to maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Research and software engineering experience through internships, work experience, coding competitions, or contributions to open-source repositories.
  • Proven track record of significant results shown through grants, fellowships, patents, or first-authored publications at leading conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, FacCT, CCS, IEEE S&P, or similar venues.
  • Experience solving complex problems and comparing alternative solutions.
  • Experience with analyzing complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from various sources.
  • Experience working and communicating in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Experience with large-scale ranking and recommendation systems.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary: $117,000/year to $173,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits. Individual pay is determined by skills, qualifications, experience
