Meta’s Fundamental AI Research (FAIR) team is looking for a talented Research Scientist to make groundbreaking advancements in AI, particularly within our Chemistry division. FAIR aims to push the boundaries of artificial intelligence and technology. Our Chemistry team is at the forefront, developing AI methods to expedite the discovery of innovative materials for climate change solutions and augmented/virtual reality applications.

What You Will Do

As a Research Scientist with a focus on AI for Science, you'll lead vital research projects that enhance the science and technology of intelligent machines. Your contributions will be pivotal in advancing AI applications in chemistry and material science to meet ambitious research goals. Some of your responsibilities include:

  • Creating advanced data-driven models for chemistry and materials.
  • Collaborating on international research projects.
  • Driving progress in AI by publishing findings and contributing to Meta product development.

Your Qualifications

Prospective candidates should currently hold or be in the process of obtaining a PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Physics, or Artificial Intelligence. You should also have:

  • Experience applying AI in scientific domains such as computational chemistry.
  • Proficiency with programming languages like Python, C++, or Julia, and tools such as Pytorch or Tensorflow.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating significant results through grants, fellowships, patents, or publications at esteemed workshops or conferences like NeurIPS, ICML, or similar.

While not necessary, additional favorable qualifications include:

  • Proven software engineering and research experience shown through internships, work experiences, or notable contributions to open source platforms.
  • Expertise in optimizing machine learning or deep learning methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve analytical problems using quantitative approaches.
