Join Our Pioneering AGI Team as a Senior Applied Scientist at Amazon

Amazon's Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) team is actively seeking a Senior Applied Scientist with expertise in machine learning to spearhead the creation and implementation of cutting-edge ML systems. These systems are integral to the development of large-scale, high-quality conversational assistants tailored to customer interactions and needs.

Core Responsibilities

As a pivotal member of our team, you will:

  • Initiate and lead projects applying advanced Machine Learning techniques to enhance algorithms related to recommendation systems, search, Natural Language Understanding (NLU), and entity matching.
  • Conduct thorough data analysis and modeling on extensive datasets to extract insights that amplify device engagement and improve customer experience.
  • Design and execute A/B testing, evaluate the effectiveness of your innovations, and present your findings to various business stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers and software engineers to conceptualize and implement comprehensive end-to-end solutions.
  • Establish and monitor alerts to identify unusual data patterns, conduct root cause analysis, and devise solutions to these issues.
  • Engage with the broader Amazon Machine Learning Community through participation in meetups, hackathons, and conferences.
  • Play a key role in hiring and mentoring junior scientists within the organization.

Job Locations

We are open to candidates based in Cambridge, GBR or London, GBR.

Basic Qualifications

  • PhD in a related field.
  • Proven experience in machine learning, statistics, and deep learning frameworks.
  • Proficient in data analysis with large datasets and familiar with R, MATLAB, Python, or similar scripting languages.
  • Skilled in the design and analysis of experiments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Global-scale research experience.
  • Expertise in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Large Language Models (LLM) is advantageous.
  • Proven capability to conduct and interpret A/B tests.
  • Exceptional communication skills with a track record of successful collaboration with research and technical teams.
