About the Role

Meta is seeking Research Interns to join our Generative AI initiatives across various domains including language and multimodal technologies. Our goal is to drive innovation in artificial intelligence by achieving groundbreaking advancements that enhance how we interact with and understand the world. Interns will have the opportunity to make significant contributions to core algorithms and apply their ideas on a scale never seen before. Internships are available for twelve (12) to sixteen (16) weeks or twenty-four (24) weeks, with various start dates throughout the year.

Responsibilities

  • Develop cutting-edge generative AI algorithms and systems using deep learning techniques.
  • Enhance the efficiency, scalability, and stability of deployed algorithms.
  • Conduct research to advance intelligent machine technologies.
  • Enable learning of data semantics and train generative models across multiple modalities (images, video, 3D, text, audio).
  • Collaborate with researchers and cross-functional teams to communicate research progress and results.
  • Disseminate research findings and contribute to Meta product development when applicable.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current Ph.D. degree (or in the process of obtaining) in relevant fields like Computer Science, Computer Vision, Audio Processing, Artificial Intelligence, or Generative AI.
  • Work authorization in the employed country, maintained continuously during employment.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, C++, C, Java.
  • Proficiency in building systems using machine learning and/or deep learning methods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Intent to return to an academic program post-internship.
  • Proven achievements through grants, fellowships, patents, and first-authored publications at leading AI conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL).
  • Experience in team collaboration and cross-functional communication.
  • Advancements in AI techniques and contributions to open-source projects in computer vision.
  • Publications or hands-on experience in related fields like machine learning, AI, data science, or applied mathematics.
  • Experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches.
  • Proficiency in setting up machine learning experiments and interpreting results.
  • Skills in manipulating and analyzing complex, large-scale datasets.
  • Empirical and theoretical research to solve problems.
  • Experience with deep learning frameworks.

Compensation
