About This Role

As a Research Scientist at Meta, you will develop advanced ML systems that power our platforms and products. You will work on generating scalable classifiers, leverage regression models, and integrate rules-based models into our workflow, applying machine learning techniques in a high-autonomy environment. You'll spearhead projects by suggesting features, collecting requirements, and setting effective roadmaps.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Creating and optimizing classifiers using machine learning, regression, and rules-based models.
• Building effective partnerships across teams and contributing code in collaboration with our engineering team.
• Adapting standard machine learning methods to take full advantage of modern parallel environments, including distributed clusters and GPUs.
• Participating actively in feedback sessions that align with Meta’s Performance Philosophy.

Minimum Qualifications

Prospective candidates should be in the process of obtaining, or currently possess, a PhD degree in Machine Learning or a related technical field. Applicants should have substantial research or work experience in areas including but not limited to deep learning, NLP, and data mining. Experience in programming with Java, C/C++, Perl, PHP, or Python, and a proven track record through internships, works, or notable contributions to open source platforms are essential.

Preferred Qualifications

• First-authored publications in prominent workshops or conferences such as ICML, NIPS, or KDD.
• Experience in complex problem-solving methodologies and tools evaluation.
• Background in working with Hadoop, Hbase, Pig, or similar frameworks.
• Proficiency in ML frameworks such as PyTorch, Spark ML, or TensorFlow.
• Capable of effective communication within cross-functional teams.
