Role and Responsibilities

As a Machine Learning Engineer within the Platform Intelligence (PI) team at Samsung Ads, you will leverage Samsung’s unique proprietary data to develop and deploy large-scale machine learning products that have a tangible impact in the real world. You will:

  • Design and develop an advanced machine learning platform capable of handling thousands of model training pipelines and processing trillions of daily predictions.
  • Enhance and tailor the ML platform to support the intricacies and needs of Samsung’s ML-driven advertising business, significantly speeding up the end-to-end model development and deployment timeline.
  • Research and prototype with the latest technologies in machine learning platforms.
  • Collaborate extensively with internal teams, including ML serving and MLOps, to enhance our codebase and engineering standards.
  • Work closely with global cross-functional teams to deliver innovative ML features and achieve business goals.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership.
  • Adapt rapidly and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Skills and Qualifications

Required Experience:

  • 6+ years of relevant industry experience with a Master’s degree or 3+ years with a PhD.
  • Proven experience with infrastructure tools like Terraform, orchestration tools like Airflow and AWS Step/Lambda, and building CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
  • Experience with real-time monitoring/alerting frameworks such as Prometheus and Grafana.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, ETL, big data tools, mainstream ML libraries and environments (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong theoretical foundation in machine learning or data mining with superior problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Extensive programming expertise in Python, Go, or other OOP languages, SQL, and database management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster cross-functional partnerships.

Preferred Experience:

  • Deep expertise in Snowflake, Snowpark, Redis/Aerospike.
  • Familiarity with AWS and the advertising industry’s real-time bidding (RTB) ecosystem.

Salary for this position (based in California) ranges between $230,000 and $280,000 annually, depending on factors such as experience and skills relative to other role incumbents.
