SAS Data Engineer

Define key responsibilities to reflect the duties and responsibilities of this role.

• The role requires strategic thinking and planning and provide expertise throughout the entire product development life cycle with a strong sense of quality ownership ensuring that quality is embedded from the start.
• The individual will also take responsibility for ensuring all development tasks meet quality criteria through thorough planning and designing, quality assurance, and issue tracking.
• Accountable for reducing business risks through timely, accurate execution and validation of infrastructural changes.
• The individual must work closely with development and infrastructure teams to create plans for enhancements and application fixes.
• Work under minimal supervision to conduct procedures and implement agreed changes to ensure that the application meets project engagement and requirements. The design must comply with standards.
• Oversee the delivery and maintenance of automated scenarios and frameworks based on industry best practices.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in managing and coordinating project deliverables and activities.
• Manage and coordinate dependencies, risks, and issues to ensure the successful delivery of the project.
• Manage the communication channels and relationships with senior stakeholders.
• Ensure all stakeholders are adequately briefed.
• Contribute to the management, monitoring and delivery of remediation action plans and outcomes where necessary, in line with expectations/requirements.
• Perform functional and technical Infrastructure review activities as per involvement in the project.
• Identify automation opportunities and define the approach. Identify test environment requirements and coordinate with teams.
• Conduct periodic reviews and evaluations of project deliverables and provide feedback.
• Participate in project meetings to provide feedback and statistics of the project.

Requirements

Technical skills and competencies required:

• Practical & Consulting Skills on Base SAS development Framework.
• Sound statistical knowledge, analytical and problem-solving skills are desired.
• Practical experience in Big data technologies (Apache Hadoop, HDFS, Hive).
• Experience with monitoring tools.
• Development skills using python, spark, sas, R languages.
• Good management and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
• Good understanding of and experience in projects (e.g. SDLC, Agile methodology). Practical experience in Big Data space (Hadoop Stack).

Nice to have:

• A solid understanding of IFRS9 Risk and compliance would be highly beneficial.

Processes:

• Good understanding and ability to apply processes laid down within the team, and/or standards as defined by the project.
• Provide technical expertise in Automation, Infrastructure Methodologies, Admin Processes, Development best practices, Tools and Techniques across the teams.
• Act as an escalation point for all matters related to infrastructure changes.
