Position Summary:

Ampersand Biomedicines, Inc. is hiring an enthusiastic and self-motivated Scientist I/II, Computational Biology with a deep understanding of next-generation sequencing (NGS), single-cell genomics, and the development of AI/Machine Learning/Deep Learning methods to join our team in developing a state-of-the-art platform to discover new multi-specific medicines in various therapeutic areas. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the growth of a rapidly advancing early-stage science and technology company within a resourceful environment. The candidate will enjoy working in a pioneering, fast-paced, and cooperative startup environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Transform biological queries into computational conundrums
  • Create and maintain novel AI/ML predictive models
  • Utilize publicly available data, proprietary data, comparative sequence analysis, and other evolutionary information to construct computational models with the aim of discovering novel RNA-small molecule interactions
  • Engage in designing experimental strategies to generate relevant data as well as to validate computational insights
  • Design computational frameworks to methodically characterize results from machine learning models from a biological perspective and provide feedback for model improvement
  • Contribute new ideas, methods, and strategies that support the company's objectives
  • Create clear data visualizations and effectively communicate complex results to a multidisciplinary audience

Key Qualifications:

  • PhD in computational sciences (e.g. computational biology, machine learning, computer science, or mathematics) or a Masters Degree with 5+ years of industry experience in biology applications
  • Coding experience (R, Python, or other similar languages) relevant to bioinformatics/computational biology
  • Experience in processing, analyzing, and modeling extensive biological datasets (e.g., genomic, transcriptomic) to address key biological queries
  • Familiarity with high-performance computing (HPC) or cloud computing platform is an asset
  • A positive "can do" attitude is essential; must be a team player, demonstrate excellent judgment, and be able to work independently
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary, and rapidly growing biotech environment
  • An innate team player with excellent communication skills and meticulous attention to detail
