Join Our Groundbreaking Team as a Scientist I/II, Protein and Chemistry Machine Learning at Scorpion Therapeutics

Scorpion Therapeutics, a trailblazer in clinical-stage oncology, leads the revolution in precision medicine, aiming to develop transformational therapies for a vast population of cancer patients. Equipped with a unique, fully integrated platform that unites the realms of cancer biology, medicinal chemistry, and data sciences, we are obsessed with generating selective small molecule compounds for cancer treatment. Our platform supports the creation of best-in-class molecules for validated targets, first-in-class molecules for undruggable targets, and pioneering molecules for novel cancer targets.

About the Role

We are on the lookout for a highly ambitious Machine Learning Scientist to enhance our Chemical Data Science team. This role is critical as it bridges protein and structural sciences with medicinal chemistry and chemical proteomics, significantly impacting our drug discovery projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement advanced data analytics and state-of-the-art machine learning models to derive insights from proteomics data, protein structure, and dynamics to aid in target prioritization and structure-based drug design.
  • Create and validate predictive models for various chemical reactivities and ADME properties of small molecules.
  • Enhance drug discovery by deploying and refining generative chemistry methods.
  • Act as a dynamic contributor within cross-disciplinary teams focused on drug discovery.
  • Stay abreast of the latest trends in machine learning and drug discovery fields.
  • Support the growth of our computational infrastructure by integrating novel tools in collaboration with the Data Science team and broader Scorpion organization.

Qualifications:

  • A PhD or MSc in computational biophysics, chemistry, chemical engineering, computer science, or a related field.
  • Profound experience with machine learning methods applicable to chemistry or structural biology.
  • Expertise in scientific programming with Python and familiarity with platforms like PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Knowledge of computational chemistry toolkits such as RDKit, OEChem, or Schrödinger and experience with cloud infrastructures like AWS.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, capable of handling the fast pace of a collaborative environment while maintaining a balance between quality and efficiency.

Preferred Experience:

  • Industry experience post-PhD/MSc in a biotech setting.
  • Skills in developing data processing workflows and infrastructure.
  • Experience in developing deep generative methods applicable to chemistry.
  • Proven track record of software development within a team.
