Role Overview: Senior Machine Learning / Artificial Intelligence Engineer

As a Senior ML/AI Engineer at Ginkgo, you'll handle everything from the design to validation of AI models impacting gene regulation and genome design using our vast proprietary data resources. This is your chance to work alongside top-tier experts to transform the future of genetic design through AI.

This position offers access to massive compute power and experimental data to explore and innovate. Your insights will influence vital decisions in public health, enhancing our ability to understand and interact with biological systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop state-of-the-art foundational models for nucleic acid sequences.
  • Create application-specific models for predicting and designing biological elements.
  • Enhance our capabilities in detecting biological threats through advanced anomaly detection tools.
  • Collaborate across teams to evolve AI model architectures and manage strategic data acquisition.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field with considerable professional experience in AI/ML.
  • Expertise in genomics and the application of AI to biological problems.
  • Fluency in Python and experience with major ML frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment.

Preferred Experience

  • PhD in Artificial Intelligence, Computational Biology, or related field.
  • Deep familiarity with current and emerging ML technologies.
  • Proven track record in scientific software development and team collaboration.

Compensation and Benefits

The starting salary for this role is $130k+, complemented by a comprehensive benefits package including stock awards, health coverage, 401(k) contributions, and a generous PTO policy.
