Senior Data Analyst, Product & Commercial - Uswitch.com

Job expired!

Location: London - hybrid with 2 days per week in-office

At RVU we combine the intimate and agile environment of a startup, with the expertise, technology and support of a well-established company.

Our mission is to empower people to make confident decisions. With our distinct set of brands, including Uswitch, Confused.com, Tempcover and Money.co.uk, we have the capability to reach millions of consumers and the technology to provide a top-notch online experience for them.

About Uswitch:

At Uswitch, our aim is to be the favorite tool for UK customers to choose and manage household essentials - from broadband and mobiles to energy and insurance. As we continue growing and broadening our services, we are looking for skilled individuals who share our enthusiasm for making a positive effect on people's lives. If you’re excited about transforming the way customers navigate their household services, we would love to hear from you.

The role:

As a Senior Data Analyst at RVU, your input will be key in driving business impact and decision-making by bridging the gap between data and insight. In this role, we seek an analytical thought leader who will assist us in pushing forward commercial decision-making for our energy business, as well as identifying opportunities to maximize performance based on analyzing customer behavior across our website and app. This will all occur as you work closely with various teams and stakeholders.

As part of the Energy team, you will play a critical role in creating the ultimate experiences for Uswitch and Confused.com users, helping them as support on energy bills becomes increasingly important.

In our quest to simplify some of the most complex and intimidating consumer marketplaces, we strive to genuinely improve the lives of our users. We answer questions like:

  • What type of revenue model promotes a commercial outcome?
  • To what degree does offering an incentive influence user behavior?
  • How can we use our knowledge of our customers to customize and personalize their experience?
  • What effect does a change in products or our comparison experience have on conversion?
  • How do wholesale energy prices affect our energy suppliers?
  • How might governmental policies impact the energy market, and how can we adjust our commercial strategy to optimize our business?
  • What are the key drivers that influence changes to the Price Cap; how can we model these to predict future cap levels?

What you’ll be working on:

You’ll be using tools and databases including Google Analytics, BigQuery, Tableau, DBT and Python, to tackle important problems that we’re only just starting to understand, in order to:

  • Forecast the impact of commercial changes on behavior, and conversely, build models to suggest changes to business terms based on deal strength, brand affinity, and conversion models.
  • Analyse Energy Wholesale data to yield insights (i.e., making predictions on energy supplier tariff prices).
  • Develop and refine complex commercial models to forecast profitability depending on different energy market scenarios.
  • Create interactive dashboards and reports to present analytical findings in a clear and concise manner to senior management.
  • Measure, quantify, and optimize complex marketing funnels and consumer journeys within our Uswitch business.
  • Collaborate and influence product teams to make data-driven decisions through split tests.
  • Monitor, report, and diagnose trends in KPIs, automating wherever possible.
  • Communicate and present clearly to colleagues across marketing, commercial, finance, and product.
  • Handle data from its raw format to a comprehensive dashboard output.
  • Support more junior analysts within the team.

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience and enthusiasm for digital, web-based product analytics.
  • Proactiveness with a can-do attitude, well organized, and adept at managing competing deadlines and priorities.
  • Excellent SQL skills; particularly with Google BigQuery with experience in using analytical and data tooling such as R, Python, Tableau, Git, dbt etc.
  • Strong business acumen and experience building complex operational&financial models, conducting ROI analysis, synthesizing recommendations, and presenting to senior executives.
  • Pragmatism; understanding of when analysis is good enough to finish.
  • Statistical competence, familiar with some statistical testing or modelling techniques.
  • Knowledge of the energy industry is a bonus, but not a requirement.

You don’t need to meet every criteria on this list, so don’t let that discourage you from applying. We want to ensure you’re learning plenty during your time with us!

Our commitment to you:

At RVU, we are dedicated to developing valuable, inclusive, and user-friendly products and services that deliver positive outcomes for all of our customers. Achieving this requires our teams to reflect the diverse range of people in our community. We believe in becoming the change we want to see in the world, by embracing our differences and holding ourselves accountable to being open and inclusive teammates and wider community members.
