About the Role

Our Data Pipelines Engineering team is at the heart of MongoDB's operations, enhancing the efficiency of the company through robust ETL pipelines. These pipelines support our Internal Data Platform, driving powerful analytics and contributing to our cutting-edge Generative AI frameworks. This role is pivotal in helping MongoDB harness AI to transform massive datasets into accessible, actionable information.

What You’ll Do

In your role as a Senior Data Engineer, GenAI, you will:

• Construct and manage ETL pipelines utilizing Python and Spark.
• Design and implement these pipelines across various architectures such as file-based and streaming systems.
• Strategize on the optimization of AI tools, focusing on data chunking and retrieval methods for RAG-based applications.
• Continuously update and integrate the latest AI trends and tools into MongoDB's platforms.
• Make key architectural decisions on the storage of vast datasets in formats like Parquet and JSON, and employ different table types like Iceberg and Hive.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data security, compliance, and scalability.

We’re Looking For Someone Who Has

• Over 5 years of expertise in building ETL pipelines for Data Lakes or Warehouses.
• At least 1 year of experience in developing AI and RAG-based applications.
• Advanced proficiency in Python and Spark.
• A deep understanding of technologies such as Hive, Iceberg, and Glue.
• Familiarity with big data file types including Parquet, Avro, and JSON.

Success Measures

Within 3 months, you will fully understand MongoDB's Data Lake and AI ecosystem. By the 6-month mark, you will lead a major project from inception to completion. After 12 months, you will have developed new features, spearheaded developmental efforts, and become a relied-upon expert in our systems.

Our offered base salary range for this role in the U.S. is $118,000—$231,000 USD, complemented by a robust benefits package.
