About the Role:

We are on the lookout for a Senior Data Engineer to become a vital member of our Campaign Analytics team at Nielsen. This role involves working closely with our dedicated product team, skilled data scientists, and fellow engineers to develop and refine data-intensive applications that gauge Advertisement Effectiveness.

As a vital contributor, you’ll take on the responsibility of designing and executing complex data processing workflows that utilize some of the most advanced query engines and data orchestration tools available today. This will involve managing large data sets while adhering to stringent privacy and security protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with product and data science teams to define requirements and design efficient data processing flows.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to develop, test, and deploy new features and functionalities.
  • Build scalable and robust data pipelines and implement automated data validation processes.
  • Identify and drive process improvements by recommending advanced tools and strategies.
  • Optimize and troubleshoot data pipelines within a distributed computing environment.
  • Uphold high programming standards and practices; perform code reviews.
  • Provide mentorship and training to junior developers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a similar field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5-8 years of professional engineering experience.
  • Extensive experience with mainstream programming languages such as Python, C++, Java, etc.
  • Proficient in SQL and familiar with advanced data systems like Spark, Presto, and EMR.
  • Experience with public cloud technologies such as AWS, GCP, and Azure.
  • Knowledge of popular relational databases such as Postgres, MySQL, and MariaDB.
  • Skilled in writing automated tests and familiar with orchestration tools like Apache Airflow.
  • Experience with common developer tools (Git, Docker, Gitlab) and agile methodologies.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential.
