Senior Data Engineer

Job Description

• Analyze approved requirements from stakeholders (across IT and business functions).
• Collaborate with domain experts and data/app owners to transform the data.
• Design, create, orchestrate, and maintain data pipelines and data extraction scripts.
• Write scripts to extract data (Python)
• Manage the application layer for the CI/CD tool used for sourcing data (Jenkins).
• Assess data quality, monitor CI/CD jobs and troubleshoot failures.
• Document the data dictionary and data pipelines / business rules.
• Work with Data Engineers to deploy/ coordinate the deployment of new data sources.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years working experience as a data engineer.
• Excellent understanding of Databases (MS SQL/ NoSQL),
• Proficient in the Python programming language.
• Experience with a Jenkins CI/CD platform.
• Experience integrating with data sources over API.
• Software engineering skills; exemplifies coding and software design best practices DevOps/GIT
• Understanding the concepts of data warehousing, including ETL/ ELT (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, data migration and data modeling.
• Understanding of cloud platforms (mainly MS Azure).
• Experience working with Power BI & Agile.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze large data sets to identify gaps and inconsistencies, provide data insights, and suggest effective product solutions.

Additional Information

• A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information System, or a related field is required.
• Strong communication skills (in English, both orally and in writing, including moderating meetings)
• Candidate willing to be based either in Mid Valley, Kuala Lumpur or Georgetown, Penang.
• Hybrid working model. (2-3 days working from the office per week)
