Job Description
As a (Senior) Data Engineer (m/w/d) at Lowell in the Data Management Team based in Essen, you will:
- Expand the data and functionality of our Oracle-based Data Warehouse (DWH), which plays a key role in reporting and analysis across all business areas.
- Analyze technical requirements, integrate new data sources, design and develop analytical data models and ETL processes, and optimize the entire DWH.
- Transition the traditional Oracle-based DWH to our cloud-based Lakehouse architecture, supporting the transformation to a modern, Azure-based data platform.
- Implement data quality checks along our automated ETL processes and collaborate with decentralized roles (Data Owners and Data Stewards).
- Embrace DevOps methodologies, managing our Data Warehouse and cloud-based Lakehouse, overseeing automated processes, and supporting our end users.
Your Profile
- Completed studies in (Economic) Computer Science, Business Administration, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Practical experience in Business Intelligence, Data Management, Data Warehousing, Data Analytics, IT Consulting, or Finance.
- In-depth understanding of analytical data architectures, company-wide data flows, and data modeling techniques, alongside proficient use of ETL tools.
- Strong knowledge of relational databases and advanced SQL skills.
- Experience with ETL/ELT tools is essential; specific experience with Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) is highly advantageous, and any BI tool expertise is helpful.
- Basic knowledge of cloud-based data architectures (especially Microsoft Azure) and proficient use of data integration services (like Azure Data Factory or Databricks) is desirable, or a willingness to learn new technologies and skills.
- Practical knowledge of data quality management techniques in a corporate setting is desirable.
- An agile mindset and practical experience with agile working methods (such as Scrum, Kanban, or Lean Project Management).
- Readiness to take on a DevOps role and enjoy communicating with internal and external partners, for example in requirement analysis.
- Strong German and English skills in both spoken and written forms (B2 level).
