The position is for a Senior Engineer with substantial development experience who will concentrate on creating new capabilities for Visa AI as a Service while refining our code base and development processes. As part of this role, you should be a passionate and skilled developer capable of working in a dynamic environment as part of Agile Scrum teams. Your robust technical leadership, problem-solving abilities, coding, testing, and debugging skills are just the beginning. You should be committed to product backlog fulfilment and delivering production-ready code. You should also be prepared to go beyond the mundane and be ready to tackle a bit of everything.

You will be an essential part of the development team, sometimes exploring new requirements and designs and at times revamping existing functionality for performance and maintainability. However, you will always be finding ways to enhance our efficiency and provide better solutions to our end-users. The role is suited for a self-organized individual with an understanding of web application and web service development. The candidate will undertake hands-on tasks including design, documentation, development, and testing of new functionality. The candidate must show flexibility and willingness to switch tasks based on the team's needs.

Essential Functions

  • Collaborate with project team members, like Product Managers, Architects, Analysts, Software Engineers, Project Managers, amongst others, to ensure the development and implementation of new data-driven business solutions.
  • Lead the development effort End-to-End for timely delivery of high-quality solutions that adhere to requirements, align with the architectural vision, and comply with all relevant standards.
  • Your responsibilities will span all phases of solution development, including:
    • Collaborating with senior technical staff and PM to identify, document, plan for contingency, track, and manage risks and issues until they are all resolved.
    • Explaining technical solutions, capabilities, considerations, and features in business terms. Effectively communicate status, issues, and risks in a precise and timely manner.

This role is hybrid. Hybrid employees can spend time alternating between remote and office work. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office for 2-3 set days in a week (as determined by leadership/the site), with the general guidepost of spending 50% or more time in the office depending on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum of 2 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD, or Ph.D.)

Preferred Qualifications:
• Minimum of 3 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or more than 2 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD)
• Exposure to leading-edge areas such as Machine Learning, Big Data, Distributed Systems, or SRE.
• Experience in one or more of the following: Golang, Java, or C/C++
• Familiarity with web service standards and associated patterns (REST, gRPC)
• Experience in implementing solutions for low-latency, distributed services using open standard technologies.

Additional Information

Work Hours: Depends on the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires 5-10% travel time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: The position will be performed in an office setting. It will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

ONLY U.S. APPLICANTS: The estimated salary range for a new hire for this position is 109,000.00 to 139,500.00 USD, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). The salary may vary depending on job-related factors, such as knowledge, skills, experience, and location. Additionally, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
