Role: Senior Data Scientist

Introduction

As a Senior Data Scientist at GlobalFoundries, you will report to the Lead Data Scientist and play a vital role in the Data Science team. Your responsibilities will include supporting the development of best practices for analytics use cases, collaborating with AI partners, and developing machine learning models to address complex challenges. You will also contribute to building scalable data products, fostering collaboration across the organization, and ensuring the deployment of high-impact data solutions.

Your Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Lead Data Scientists and business customers to translate their needs into predictive and prescriptive analytics solutions.
  • Collaborate with GFIT and the Manufacturing Data Domain group to support data pipeline development for scalable analytics solutions.
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis and create compelling visualizations using complex datasets.
  • Identify and train suitable machine learning models, including hyperparameter tuning, to ensure optimal performance.
  • Deploy models into production with the assistance of Product Engineers.
  • Validate and monitor model performance to prevent degradation.
  • Assist in building technical and analytics capabilities within the team, staying current on best practices and techniques.
  • Communicate the value of analytics to Fab leadership and business partners to maximize their impact.
  • Facilitate the generation and maximization of value from analytics solutions.

Perform all activities safely and responsibly while supporting Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Operation Research, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Biostatistics, Economics, Data Science, or a related Engineering degree).
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in the analytics space with a proven track record of innovation.
  • Experience with data science techniques including Forecasting, Recommendation Systems, Logistics Optimization, Churn Analysis, Segmentation Analysis, and Deep Learning.
  • Proficiency in business modeling environments such as R, Python, SAS, SPSS, or STATA.
  • Experience in optimization and cloud environments for scaling and productionisation of recommendation engines.
  • Ability to implement advanced business-focused analyses that capture industry-specific nuances.
  • Strong communication skills for interactions with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven leadership skills for coaching and guiding team members.
  • Experience with Agile teams and a product-focused mindset.
  • Ability to build trust and rapport within the team and with senior leadership.
  • Flexibility to work with ambiguous problems and unstructured data, and a strong bias towards action.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in data science or a related field.
