About the Role: Senior Data Scientist, Healthcare
Accompany Health is looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our growing product team. This mission-critical role will involve:
- Collaborating with product, engineering, clinical, and operations teams from diverse backgrounds
- Developing data, analytics, and AI/ML-enabled products to enhance healthcare access and delivery for marginalized populations
Key Responsibilities
- Champion data science across all functions, understanding primary business objectives and applying data science expertise
- Act as a thought partner across product, engineering, and clinical operations regarding all data-related projects
- Excel in understanding healthcare domain and related data assets (claims, EHR data, clinical notes, imaging) and ML/AI applications
- Build and maintain scalable data/feature engineering pipelines using tools like SQL, Spark, Python, and Feature Stores
- Implement and maintain ML & AI techniques for various healthcare business use cases, including healthcare utilization prediction, clinical segmentation, sentiment analysis, and NLP/LLMs applications
- Deploy models to production using AWS SageMaker with optimal model versioning and registries
- Develop a system for continuous, automated model experimentation, feedback, and optimization
- Contribute to process improvements and best practices within the data science team for transparency, reproducibility, and scalability
- Stay current with state-of-the-art methods, participate in regular working sessions, and mentor peers

Desired Skills and Experience
Required:
- 3-5 years of experience in health data science, ML, and AI
- Proficiency in data science/ML areas including statistics, causal inference, supervised and unsupervised machine learning algorithms, common LLMs (OpenAI, Claude 3, Llama 3), and prompt engineering
- Strong command of Python and data science/ML packages like Tensorflow or PyTorch
- Experience with data processing tools and technology for production-grade ML workflows (e.g., SageMaker Pipelines, Docker)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to harmonize disparate data and present findings effectively
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Highly inquisitive, self-motivated, and attentive to detail
Preferred:
- Familiarity with software development life cycle and project management tools (e.g., Agile, JIRA)
- Understanding of value-based care, quality metrics, and clinical terminologies
- Experience with AWS cloud infrastructure
