About the Team

The Careem Data Science team is dedicated to harnessing the power of data to drive competitive value. We build AI models aimed at optimizing user experiences, streamlining decision making, and improving operational efficiencies. As a senior member of this team, you will leverage advanced machine learning and AI technologies to solve real-world problems and contribute to the region’s AI ecosystem, deploying solutions on our robust in-house AI platform.

Responsibilities

• Develop a long-term vision for customer acquisition and engagement strategies with a data-driven approach.
• Conduct exploratory analysis to understand ecosystem dynamics and user behavior, identifying new opportunities for growth and product enhancement.
• Influence the development of data/ML models and tools to optimize user experiences and uncover new business opportunities.
• Provide leadership by presenting data-driven insights to guide business decisions and product development.
• Implement scalable machine learning algorithms for large data sets in production environments.
• Undertake exploratory data analysis projects to uncover growth opportunities and optimization potential.
• Answer complex analytical questions using big data to inform product and service improvements.
• Define, track, and report key project metrics.
• Design and conduct randomized controlled experiments, analyzing and sharing results with cross-functional teams.
• Continuously explore new data processing technologies and industry best practices to enhance our capabilities.

Qualifications

• Experience in data mining, predictive modeling, time series analysis, machine learning, and Big Data methodologies.
• An advanced degree in a quantitative field such as Physics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or Computer Science.
• Strong problem-solving and coding skills.
• Solid understanding and experience with marketplace challenges in ride-hailing and delivery services.
• Expertise in AB testing, classic ML, and DL techniques.
• Knowledge of recommendation systems, learning to rank, uplift modeling, and matching algorithms.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, in English.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, Spark, and Hive.
• Experience with database technologies like Hadoop, BigQuery, Amazon EMR, Oracle, SAP, and more.
• Familiarity with business intelligence and visualization tools such as Tableau, MicroStrategy, and Qlik.
• Knowledge of geospatial data processing and Agile methodologies is a plus.
