As a Senior Data Scientist (Machine Learning), you will have an opportunity to develop inventive models impacting millions of users in the fintech industry. You'll cooperate with proficient Machine Learning Scientists and engage with your colleagues on stimulating scientific issues in areas such as fraud detection, risk modeling, customization, operations, and causal inference. About the Data Science Team At Varo, our Data Science Team builds Machine Learning models to facilitate access to funds, protect our customers from fraud, and enhance the in-app experience with real-time suggestions. What you'll be doing You'll be responsible for creating production-level ML algorithms such as fraud detection algorithms, recommender systems, dynamic credit risk models, and large-scale causal inference models, monitoring, and analyzing their performance. You'll utilize broad data sets from various sources and apply modern modeling techniques to enhance and optimize customer experiences, customer acquisition, underwriting, and other business outcomes. You'll also identify opportunities throughout the organization to drive business decisions or improve our products with Machine Learning and cooperate with the engineering team to deploy models and monitor results. You’ll bring the following required skills and experiences You should have an advanced degree in a quantitative field such as computer science, engineering, statistics, operations research, economics, etc. and at least 4 years of experience as a Data Scientist, Machine Learning Scientist, or Research Scientist. This experience could also include relevant experience from your PhD research. You should have experience applying a wide range of statistical techniques to large data sets and understand their real-world pros and cons. You should be competent in using Python for analysis, modeling, and visualization (numpy, pandas, scikit, nltk, matplotlib, etc). Also, you must be able to cope in a fast-paced setting and be a team player. It's preferred if you're familiar with Sagemaker, Spark, TensorFlow, Keras, and PyTorch.
