Become one of the curious. Ancestry is looking for an exceptional, driven, and highly motivated Data Scientist to join our Handwriting Recognition (HWR) team. This team processes and extracts data from historical records, including text, audio, and image sources, to assist customers in discovering their family history. We've invested heavily in this area and as a scientist on the HWR team, you'll contribute to building state-of-the-art vision and NLP pipelines that process billions of document images. What you will do... - As a Deep Learning Scientist on the HWR team, you will create, train, and fine-tune models that assist in the extraction of records from handwritten images. - Participate in rapid prototyping and agile software development, delivering continuously improved measurement-driven models. - Design, run, and oversee complex model pipelines, working with stakeholders to meet requirements. - Collaborate closely with engineering teams to train, optimize, and deploy models. - Work with Data Science Engineers to move datasets, truth sets, models, pipelines, training, and inference code to the cloud. - Communicate and present deliverables and solutions effectively to teams, stakeholders, and executives. - Implement new AI techniques through applied research (layout/object detection, transcription, generative AI, NLP, LLM, CV solutions for NER). Who you are... - Holder of an advanced degree (MS/PhD) in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related quantitative field. - At least 3-4 years of hands-on technical experience in developing and implementing AIML models in production environments. - Specialized in computer vision, deep learning, and machine learning. - Highly proficient in Python, LLMs, CV, NLP, and other libraries. - Familiar with deep learning frameworks like Pytorch, Hugging Face, OpenAI, TensorFlow, SpaCy, SciPy stack, etc. - Experienced with applied research and applying published models to real-world applications. - Previous experience with Sagemaker and other AWS services is a plus. - Strong software development skills are crucial for success in this role. - Self-starter, highly motivated and able to motivate and energize teams.
