Job Description

Vattenfall Eldistribution is at the center of the energy transition and plays a crucial role in the powerful electrification now occurring at the societal level where network capacity needs to double within the next 10 years. The transition involves increased customer interactions in which the Customer Information and Insights department's role is to understand our customer segments as well as their drivers and how the growth rate will look. The department acts as information owners for all customer data and is responsible for customer insight work.

We are currently 15 colleagues and are now planning to grow with several new employees - among them a Senior Data Scientist at our office in Solna.

About the role

Our department's customer insight and effect forecast process includes market analysis work and translating this impact on our business, understanding and analyzing our customers and segments and building accurate effect forecasts to understand the growth rate. The department works on behalf of the company, i.e., the analyzes performed are demand-driven and may vary depending on what is happening in our external environment. We work in close dialogue with the business to understand and act on their needs.

We are now looking for a Senior Data Scientist who can take our analyses to the next level. The department's analyzes are demanded in several areas both within and outside the company, which together with a rapidly changing external environment - creates a need for new types of analyzes and insights. A data-driven approach is key and we need to take it to a new level with more data science competence in the group, where machine learning is an area we want to explore in connection with time series analyses among other things.

The analyses involve a number of data sources, internal as well as external, which to a greater extent should be connected to make meaningful analyses. During 2023, work has started to automate parts of the workflow and gather our data sources in a common data warehouse (Azure storage), which now also needs to be done for other relevant parts. You will drive this work and may take responsibility for coordinating development work within a designated analysis area.

Moreover, communication is an important part of our work. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will regularly present the analyses internally within the company, where customer insights are demanded across the board and at all levels. Your ability to present and adapt messages for different parts of the company is therefore important.

Qualifications

In order to be successful in the role, we believe you have:

  • Several years of experience in programming in Python or similar programming language
  • Several years of experience in building efficient and clear code to automate workflows, from structuring input files, processing, and finally visualizing data
  • Several years of experience in analyzing large amounts of data through machine learning
  • Experience in statistical modeling and forecasting
  • Experience with visualization programs like Power BI
  • Experience working with data quality; identifying and addressing deficiencies and initiating improvement initiatives
  • A relevant academic degree
  • Good skills in conveying messages/preparing presentations
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written

We see it as a plus if you also have previous experience in customer insight work and/or insight into the energy industry.

As the department's role is to understand the needs of the business within the customer insight area, your ability to communicate and build relationships both internally and externally is important. You have an innovative and analytical side and the strength to convert insights into consequences. We also believe that you are agile and proactive in order to handle the breadth of the role.
