In this position, you will collaborate with a cross-functional team to propel data initiatives across essential Axios products.

Go deeper: As a Senior Data Scientist, you will impact Axios through the following duties:

• Collaborating closely with Product Managers to create machine learning and AI-driven data products
• Developing, deploying, monitoring, validating, and governing models utilized in production applications
• Applying natural language processing techniques to various business problems
• Identifying opportunities to implement new techniques and technologies
• Expanding Python libraries used for advanced analytics and machine learning
• Staying current on new and leading-edge applications of machine learning and AI

The Details: Ideal candidates will display an entrepreneurial spirit, and a passion for Axios’ mission and will have the following skills:

• Highly collaborative and comfortable working on a remote 1st distributed team
• Self-motivated with high attention to detail, ability to think critically and solve problems
• Capability to learn new technologies and experience delivering a broad range of data science projects
• Highly analytical with robust experience in analysis, math, and statistics
• Demonstrated experience as a data scientist
• Experience applying suitable analytical methods and experimental design (training models, feature development, regression testing)
• Understanding of NLP techniques for text representation and semantic extraction
• Experience using LLM and generative AI technologies
• Excellent programming skills in Python/SQL
• Comfortable with Jupyter Notebooks, and experience with machine learning frameworks (like PyTorch, Tensorflow), Python libraries (like scikit-learn, HuggingFace) and GPU-accelerated computing
• Ability to write robust and testable code
• Excellent communication skills

Starting salary for this role is between $165,000 - $180,000 and depends on a variety of factors, including location, work experience, and skills. This range doesn't take other compensation benefits into account.
