Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer - Generative AI Product Engineering to join our dynamic team in McLean, Virginia, and lead the development of innovative AI solutions.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Generative AI Engineer at Capital One, you will:

• Develop and maintain advanced API and SDK architectures for training, fine-tuning, and accessing large-scale AI models.
• Build robust systems to support real-time customer interactions using Large-Language Models (LLMs) and Foundation Models (FMs) within our public cloud infrastructure.
• Collaborate with top AI engineers and researchers to design essential product and service APIs that enhance user experience.
• Work on integrating AI safety and ethical guidelines directly into system operations.
• Monitor and improve the operational health and security of AI platforms.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 4 years of experience in ML application platform design and deployment.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Go, Scala, or Java.
• Experience in developing systems for training and inferencing with deep neural networks.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with large-scale AI platforms related to NLP, speech, computer vision, or recommendation systems.
• Ability to adapt to fast-paced environments with evolving project scopes and priorities.
• Experience deploying large neural network models in high-stakes production environments.
• Familiarity with API security, cloud access control, and privacy best practices.

Location and Compensation

This position is primarily located in McLean, Virginia. The role offers a competitive full-time salary range between $165,100 - $199,700, dependent on location and fit within the hybrid onsite model. Incentive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package are also included.
