About the Role

As a Senior Environment Data Analyst within the Data and Analytics team, you will be integral to the development and improvement of Verisk’s core datasets. Your expertise in numeracy, environmental issues, and commercial awareness will drive the evolution of our Environment and Climate datasets. This role offers the opportunity to be creative in developing new datasets, models, and products that deliver environmental risk intelligence. Based in London, Bath, or Edinburgh, you will report to the Head of Geospatial Risk Data. We encourage you to include a cover letter with your application.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Environmental risk dataset, lead innovation, and ensure timely updates and improvements.
  • Support the update cycle of Verisk’s global geospatial risk datasets.
  • Ensure data integrity, quality, accuracy, and full auditability by validating, cross-checking, and cleaning data as needed.
  • Lead by example for quantitative skills, attention to detail, quality assurance, and commercial awareness for junior colleagues.
  • Independently lead innovative projects and provide timely and accurate results.
  • Conduct analysis and generate insights into Verisk’s core datasets, supporting colleagues and clients effectively.
  • Collaborate with various business functions including Technology, Sales, Marketing, and Research teams.

Qualifications

We are looking for a Senior Environment Data Analyst with:

  • Master’s level qualification (or equivalent experience) in an environmental subject with a quantitative element (required).
  • Strong domain knowledge in climate change, earth systems, natural hazards, or environment-related field (required).
  • 5+ years of work experience in a quantitative role (required).
  • Experience in a client-facing role with the ability to communicate complex information to non-technical audiences (required).
  • Strong numeracy skills with a basic understanding of statistical principles (required).
  • Commitment to data quality and attention to detail (required).
  • Experience working with large, geospatial, multi-dimensional data (preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (required).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team (required).

Technical Skills

  • Advanced Excel skills (required).
  • Experience with geospatial analysis tools such as ArcGIS or QGIS (preferred).
  • Experience using Python for data analysis, including relevant statistics and visualization libraries (preferred).
