About the Role: (Senior) Machine Learning Engineer

We are excited to announce an opportunity for a (Senior) Machine Learning Engineer to join the Advanced Analytics IT Product Team in KONE IT Enterprise Data & Analytics Unit. This team is pivotal in developing data products and advanced analytics solutions across various business domains, enabling KONE's business functions to make data-driven decisions that provide a competitive edge in the market.

As a Machine Learning (ML) Engineer, you will leverage data to design, develop, test, validate, and deploy advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI solutions. You will ensure these solutions are reliable and secure for target users. Your role will involve designing data modeling processes, creating algorithms, and integrating these models into IT products within our enterprise IT environment. You will also participate in peer reviews, defect resolutions, and continuously improve solutions based on product performance.

Key Requirements for Success

To excel in this role, you should have:

  • A Master's or Ph.D. degree in a quantitative field such as computer science, physics, statistics, or mathematics.
  • A proven track record in applying advanced analytics techniques like machine learning and AI to business problems using cloud technology.
  • 3-8 years of hands-on experience in machine learning, data science, and/or data engineering, depending on the role’s seniority.
  • Technical proficiency with AWS components such as DynamoDB, CloudFormation, Route53, S3, AWS CDK, and AppFlow, with relevant AWS certifications preferred.
  • Experience with Databricks for machine learning, AI, and data science applications, including workflow orchestration, unity catalog, Spark (PySpark), and MLFlow, with relevant certifications preferred.
  • Proficiency in tools like GitLab/GitHub, Airflow, and Terraform for IaaC.
  • Coding proficiency in Python, SQL, and DBT, with hands-on experience in industry-standard software development life cycle methods and DevOps practices.
  • An understanding of cybersecurity guidelines, data privacy, and compliance regulations.
  • The ability to write maintainable code and experience with software testing practices.
  • Experience in working with enterprise data landscapes and data structures, such as structural data, non-structural data, metadata, master data, transactional data, and batch/NRT data. Experience with enterprise data sources like SAP ERP, Salesforce, and product data management (PDM) is preferred.

For the Senior ML Engineer position, you should also have:

  • Proficiency in ML engineering methodologies and technical aspects, promoting innovation and critically evaluating new methods.
  • The ability to identify, design, and implement ML engineering process improvements to automate manual processes, optimize data delivery, and redesign infrastructure for greater scalability.
  • Experience in ensuring solutions align with industry best practices and KONE’s technical design principles.
  • The ability to plan and conduct quality actions like code reviews, support, and coaching of others.
  • In-depth process and data knowledge for the business domains you work with.
  • The willingness to take on additional responsibilities such as Scrum Master, leading task forces, and defect triages.
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring junior developers and engineers.
