Scotiabank is actively seeking a dynamic Senior Manager, Climate Data Strategy and Execution to join our purpose-driven team. This role is pivotal in advancing our climate-related initiatives, supporting our ambitious net-zero strategy and fulfilling regulatory requirements.

About the Role

As a Senior Manager within our Global Sustainability segment, you will collaborate with the Climate Change team, led by our Vice-President and Head of Global Sustainability. You will play a crucial role in partnering with Data & Analytics, Global Risk Management, and other key corporate functions. Your main focus will be on enhancing our climate-related finance commitments and managing the execution of related priorities effectively.

In this role, you will:

  • Contribute to the management of the bank's $350B climate-related finance commitment, focusing on data management, process improvements, and quality assurance.
  • Lead project plans for the financed emissions working group, ensuring effective stakeholder engagement and timely communication.
  • Create and facilitate meeting materials that aid in decision-making for key stakeholders.
  • Address data-centric requirements emerging from the bank's climate goals.
  • Support internal teams in tracking emissions reduction and integrating net-zero levers into business planning.
  • Enhance expertise in data management concerning climate-related programs.
  • Drive process efficiencies through innovative use of climate-related data.
  • Build consensus and foster stakeholder engagement across the organization.

Who You Are

You are ideal for this role if you have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Science, Sustainability, Economics, or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree or experience in sustainability/climate change, considered a significant asset.
  • At least 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Exceptional organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven experience in strategic thinking, stakeholder facilitation, and cross-functional team collaboration.
  • An understanding of complex data processes and the ability to convey intricate information effectively.
  • Knowledge of financial services and the Canadian banking system is advantageous.
