Reporting directly to the Group Head of Data Intelligence Technology, you will lead a team responsible for building, owning, and operating our strategic data platform in collaboration with Microsoft. This platform will revolutionize how customers access and consume our data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the key technical engineer, partnering with Microsoft on the approach, design, best practices, and build of the data platform, balancing leading technologies with delivery execution.
  • Lead the technical design and execution of large data platforms, balancing feature development with operational excellence.
  • Optimize delivery focus across our teams and businesses.
  • Collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders and senior executives to ensure transparency in approach and design.
  • Manage risks by identifying, coordinating, and planning resolutions for program and portfolio risks.
  • Make sound judgments and decisions at a senior technical leadership level using assertiveness and influencing skills to demonstrate business benefits and ensure buy-in.

Essential Skills

  • Deep technical expertise in data across various technology stacks, with a passion for transformation (e.g., data mesh and fabrics).
  • Proven experience designing and building large-scale data platforms, especially within Financial Markets firms, with hands-on implementation and technical strategy.
  • Experience in the Data and Analytics business.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, adept at facilitating discussions and decision-making.
  • Strong focus on non-functional and operational excellence of large-scale platforms within a DevSecOps environment.
  • A self-starter capable of clear decision-making and problem-solving, generating solutions to get the job done.
  • Proactively assess trends and risks to identify potential problem areas.
  • Maintain an innovative approach while adhering to defined internal and external communication processes.

Business and Sector Expertise

  • Experience with data sourcing, mastering, and distribution within a public cloud environment.
  • Knowledge in managing large data estates and data distribution methods.
  • Experience operating in highly regulated environments (e.g., banking).
  • Broad understanding of the Data Intelligence domain within Financial Markets.
  • Strong financial and commercial competence with a customer-driven approach.
  • Expertise in current and future technological trends and concepts (e.g., data mesh and fabric).
  • Experience leading internal and supplier teams for efficiency in technology organizations.
  • Strong public cloud and lakehouse technology experience.

Leadership and Management Experience

  • Experience in partnering with key technology partners.
  • Strong team-building skills to encourage trust, manage expectations, and gain sponsorship from business, technology, and senior leadership teams.
  • Work with vendors to understand technical and business opportunities, performing due diligence on third parties as needed.

Personal Skills and Capabilities

  • Provide technical leadership and influence resources in a matrix environment, both pro-actively and reactively.
  • Communicate confidently and concisely with all levels, including technologists, non-technologists, senior managers, and team members.
  • Proven track record of translating vision/strategy into clear priorities and direction.
