Our Team Slack's Datastores team creates and operates the database platform which powers Slack. We write software that manages thousands of stateful hosts, providing several petabytes of online database capacity. We are developing one of the fastest-growing database platforms globally. Our group's teams maintain and develop our stack's lower levels, including edge services, data stores and caches, real-time messaging, and asynchronous background job processing. Should you join Slack, your typical week might involve: operating and improving our large, highly-available database infrastructure, developing tools for self-service and self-managing capabilities of our database infrastructure, collaborating with engineering teams on their database storage needs, and writing code to capture database performance. You may be a suitable candidate for this role if you: - Have worked with data storage, core infrastructure, or owned distributed systems for 7-10+ years. - Have professional experience using Go, PHP/Hacklang, Python, Ruby, or Java. - Have operated one distributed system at scale in a team environment. - Have deployed server software on Linux and optimized its performance. - Have experience working with cloud infrastructure like AWS.
