Joining Collibra's Staff Software Engineer - Search team

We are seeking a visionary technical leader to join our expanding engineering team. The objective of the Search Team is to provide an exceptional Search experience, driving user involvement on the Collibra platform. You will be working alongside the team to resolve complex data issues, creating innovative solutions to impress our customers with a quick, reliable search experience that delivers relevant data via intuitive search queries.

You will cooperate with the cross-functional team and all reliant product teams to ensure the success of the Search product. Your responsibility will be to aid technical delivery and develop the technical vision for the Search product while working with teams spread across multiple regions including Europe, US, Canada and Asia Pacific. Staff Software Engineers at Collibra are responsible for:

• Following an agile procedure (Scrum) to ensure your deliverables are visible to the entire team and company stakeholders
• Investigating, developing, and implementing advanced search algorithms and techniques to improve search quality, relevance, and efficiency
• Regularly monitoring and optimizing the performance of search systems, identifying and addressing bottlenecks and areas for improvement
• Addressing complex technical challenges related to search functionality, data retrieval, and relevance ranking, working closely with the team to discover innovative and effective solutions
• Supervising the Elasticsearch clusters through a managed service, which includes provisioning, scaling, and fine-tuning Elasticsearch instances

You possess:

• Professional experience in building large and scalable Java applications based on Spring or Spring Boot in an agile environment
• Experience in leading technology and driving software development with a focus on Search capability, working knowledge of ElasticSearch is a necessity
• Outstanding communication skills to express technical complexities. Ability to communicate effectively in English - we’re a global team and English is the most commonly used language
• Work experience in constructing products intended for real-time on-demand environments such as SaaS, Internet/Digital, or Cloud Products
• Experience with Relational Database Management Systems (preferably PostgresQL)
• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent related work experience is required
• This position does not qualify for visa sponsorship

Measures of success:

• Within your first month, you will become familiar with our work environment, our approach to software implementation as an organization, simple business use cases and you will submit code to production.
• Within your third month, you will implement new user stories with quality and care, and understand their value to our customers.
• Within your sixth month, you will be a productive member of the Search team, reliably delivering quality code, participating in testing, and on your way to establishing a technical vision for the Search capability in Collibra.

Compensation for this role

The standard base range for this position is $152,000 - $231,000 per year. This position does not qualify for additional commission-based compensation. Salary offers are based on a combination of factors including experience, skills, and location.
