Job Description

The Advanced Technology Group (ATG) at ServiceNow is a customer-oriented innovation unit, developing intelligent software and engaging user experiences using existing and emerging technologies to foster end-to-end, market-leading work experiences for our customers. We're a team of researchers, applied scientists, engineers, and product managers, with a critical mission to drive AI-based workflows and solutions.

In the Core LLM Team, we develop and enhance Generative AI-based solutions while partnering with other teams to create products and comprehensive AI-powered work experiences. Simultaneously, we build the groundwork, research, experiment, and work to minimize risks surrounding AI technologies that could unlock new work experiences in the future.

Applied research scientists/engineers are expected to find innovative and cost-effective solutions to essential problems, deliver top-quality code, and collaborate with product managers, machine learning engineers, and performance/quality engineers to bring the product to market.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you should have:

• 14-16+ years of experience
• Proficiency in software development utilizing Python/C++/Java
• Experience in training transformer-based language models and their variations (T5, BART, BERT, etc.)
• Understanding of transformer architecture and the consequent impacts when modified
• Proficiency in utilizing GPUs to train deep learning models
• Considerable knowledge of applying deep learning models with NLP related use-cases in solving industrial problems
• Strong comprehension of model compression through parameter quantization, distillation, teacher-student training techniques
• In-depth understanding of large language models and prompting methods
• Thorough knowledge of AI quality evaluation metrics
• Experience in reviewing research papers and implementing the algorithms described in them
• An advanced degree (MS/PhD) in computer science, with a concentration in Natural Language Processing
