The University of Toronto's Faculty of Arts & Science is home to the Acceleration Consortium (AC), a pioneer in the integration of artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, materials sciences, and high-throughput chemistry. Our ambition is to revolutionize scientific discovery and technological innovation through advanced self-driving laboratories (SDLs) or materials acceleration platforms (MAPs). These advancements aim to tackle some of the most pressing global challenges including climate change, water pollution, and pandemics.
The AC has been awarded a substantial $200M Canadian First Research Excellence Grant, ensuring seven years of funding to fulfill our transformative vision. Currently, we are developing seven cutting-edge SDLs across various scientific domains, and we invite you to contribute to this groundbreaking work.
We are seeking a Senior Staff Scientist for our AI and Automation Lab to lead and innovate in AI-driven autonomous discovery. This role involves significant autonomy in designing and executing research programs that leverage AC’s SDL platforms to pioneer new materials and molecules.
Required: Ph.D. in Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience: At least 10 years in R&D with a robust track record in managing large-scale research projects, preferably within an interdisciplinary team.
