Role and Responsibilities

The Software Development Specialist will lead the development of software applications, manage the overall lifecycle, and provide continuous operational support when required. Critical tasks include overseeing platform and dashboard development for Smart Facilities projects across the UN System, responding to technical inquiries, email support, and in-person assistance. Essential qualities for this role include strong technical and interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and clear communication abilities.

Key Duties

  • Develop existing operational dashboards for monitoring infrastructure components, IoT gateways/sensors, and project tracking.
  • Automate local office processes to enhance efficiency and service delivery using appropriate development tools.
  • Support Green Energy and Smart Facilities projects by integrating data into existing platforms.
  • Interact with ICT managers to identify needs, gaps, and offer technical support.
  • Develop comprehensive documentation ensuring compliance with corporate standards and ISO 9001:2008.
  • Perform additional duties as required for the efficient functioning of the office and the organization.

Institutional Arrangement

The incumbent will report to the Manager of the Smart Infrastructure and Connectivity Unit (SICU) and receive guidance from the Global ICT Advisor. Progress will be reported in monthly and weekly team meetings.

Travel

  • UNDP covers travel costs to the duty station and return upon completion of services if the function is performed physically at the duty station. This excludes working-from-home arrangements.
  • Includes any official travel associated with performing the functions.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field, or a first-level university degree with an additional two years of qualifying experience.
