Position Overview: Sr. Data Engineer- Claims (Hybrid)

Selective Insurance is seeking an energetic and collaborative Sr. Data Engineer to join our Customer Analytics team within the Information Management group. This team provides technology support for Data Engineering, Analytics, and Reporting across Marketing, Customer Experience, and Contact Center business areas. The role involves working hands-on with data applications and providing high-level technical guidance.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and support new or existing data applications.
• Collaborate with business and analysts to understand data and business processes, providing recommendations for best practices and long-term solutions.
• Work closely with Application and Enterprise Architects to create low-level implementation designs and understand high-level data flow designs.
• Provide technical guidance for complex data solutions.
• Support the design, development, code review, testing, deployment, and documentation of data engineering and integration applications.
• Maintain detailed documentation to support downstream integrations.
• Provide support for production issues and perform Scrum Master activities.
• Identify technology trends and explore opportunities within the organization.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of experience in Data Warehousing, Data Integration, or Data Engineering projects.
• Proficient in SQL and experienced with the Azure ecosystem.
• Experience with Informatica Powercenter, IICS, Cognos, Netezza Performance servers, and any of these analytical platforms - PowerBI, AzureML, Databricks, or Synapse.
• Proficiency in Python or Scala.
• Experience in Azure DevOps and GitHub (preferred).
• Prior experience in P&C Insurance (preferred).
• Excellent communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related engineering field (preferred).

Salary Range

Combined with qualifications and experience, the salary range for this role is between $90,000 - $130,000, based on geographic location and other considerations.
