Purpose of the Position

The role involves researching, analyzing, and translating business requirements into technical specifications. You will design logical and physical models to support the BI Enterprise DW development effort. As a Business Analyst and Data Analyst, you will manage customer expectations for complex Capital projects.

Position Accountabilities

  • Lead BI-SDLC (Business Intelligence Software Delivery Lifecycle) projects.
  • Collaborate with Business, System Integration, Cloud Data Architects, ETL Integration Specialists, and Power BI Dashboard Developers.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications and develop BRD and/or TDD independently.
  • Design and develop data models for optimal performance.
  • Document project-specific processes, data flows, dependencies, definitions, and relevant business rules.
  • Establish data dictionaries to support data governance infrastructure.
  • Perform data analysis, data mapping, testing, and develop SQL scripts and ad hoc queries.
  • Work with project teams and business stewards to refine business requirements.
  • Exemplify CPKC Vision, Values, and Culture in interactions with coworkers, partners, customers, and stakeholders.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, preferably in a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred:

  • 3+ years of experience with DAX, R, Python, MML, SAS Enterprise Miner, or similar tools.
  • Experience with data extraction/transformation, load tools, and metadata repository tools.
  • Knowledge of various database platforms such as SAP, MS SQL Server, and Data Visualization software, preferably Power BI.
  • Proficiency with MS Office tools including PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio, Excel, and Word, along with shell scripting.
  • Familiarity with the SDLC and ETL Processes, data mining, database design, and data governance.
  • Experience consolidating data from multiple sources and developing process workflows.

Working Conditions

  • Work with diverse data sources like Streaming Data, Time Series Data, and unstructured data.
  • Apply and develop statistical, machine learning, and deep learning models to classify data.
  • Communicate technical recommendations to a non-technical audience effectively.
  • Test and validate programming steps with strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Handle multiple tasks efficiently in a dynamic environment, displaying attention to detail and self-motivation.
  • Work in a structured environment with occasional after-hours or weekend tasks, and minimal travel up to 10%.
