Job Description:

The Conversational Assistant Program (CAT) at ServiceNow Research explores how Conversational AI Assistants can enhance the productivity of knowledge workers across all industries. Our aim is to delight end-users, empower instance admins, and enable citizen developers by converting LLMs into reliable assistants. We prototype trustworthy assistants to help you achieve your goals using the best tools available.

We are currently seeking collaborators and interns to work on exciting topics such as:

  • Task-oriented dialogue and semantic parsing
  • Interactive code generation
  • Compute- and memory-efficient LLMs
  • Retrieval-augmented LLMs
  • Lightweight LLM adaptation for downstream tasks
  • Using LLM for data synthesis
  • Large context transformers and memory-augmented transformers
  • Controllable AI, chain-of-thought methods, integration with symbolic AI
  • Trustworthy natural language generation; combatting hallucinations

As a research scientist, you will contribute to flagship projects, establish your own research agenda, supervise interns, and collaborate with your colleagues and the global AI community. You will be responsible for writing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing research software, staying updated on the latest trends and discoveries, and sharing your knowledge through internal communications and collaborative projects.

Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • A Ph.D. in machine learning, deep learning, computer science, artificial intelligence, or a related field.
  • Preferred: 2 years of research experience post-Ph.D.
  • A proactive, results-oriented mindset with a desire to push the boundaries of knowledge.
  • Experience with large language models, and optionally in multimodal representation learning, reinforcement learning, graphs, time series, computer vision, etc.
  • Proficiency in scientific programming with Python and Numpy, with additional experience in Java, JavaScript, or R being a plus.
  • Mastery of deep learning programming in Pytorch, with additional experience in TensorFlow being advantageous.
  • A track record of contributing to research communities, including publishing papers at top international conferences (ACL, EMNLP, NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, CVPR, etc.).
  • A desire to work within a diversified team.
