Databricks, a leader in data and AI technology, is seeking a dedicated Sr. Machine Learning Engineer with a specialization in General AI and Large Language Models (LLM). This role offers the flexibility to work remotely, with a preference for candidates located in the Bay Area, although all qualified candidates across the U.S. will be considered.
About the Role
The Machine Learning (ML) Practice Team at Databricks is looking for a professional to join our dynamic group. As part of our customer-facing team, you will tackle the increasing demand for solutions based on Large Language Models (LLM), allowing you to work on cutting-edge technologies in LLMs, MLOps, and ML.
In this role, you will:
- Develop LLM solutions tailored to customer data, enhancing enterprise knowledge repositories and facilitating natural language interactions with structured data.
- Enhance and optimize data science workloads for our customers, ensuring the effective application of MLOps to bring these workloads to live environments across various domains.
- Offer guidance on data science best practices in areas such as architecture and tool implementation.
- Engage in knowledge sharing by presenting at top conferences like the Data+AI Summit and providing mentorship within the ML Subject Matter Expert community at Databricks.
- Work closely with product and engineering teams to steer product priorities and development, directly influencing the future roadmap.
Who You Are
We are looking for candidates who possess:
- Hands-on experience with modern natural language processing techniques, including the deployment of LLMs using tools like HuggingFace, Langchain, and OpenAI.
- A minimum of 4 years’ experience in data science, with proficiency in ML tools like pandas, scikit-learn, and TensorFlow/PyTorch.
- Experience in deploying machine learning solutions on major cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- An advanced degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science or Engineering, or the equivalent practical experience.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- A passion for collaborative problem-solving, continuous learning, and delivering value through innovative technology.
- [Preferred] Experience with Apache Spark™ for managing large-scale data sets.

Pay Range Transparency
Our commitment to fair and equitable compensation means the salary range for this role is $124,800—$220,800 USD, varying by location and candidate experience. This position may also be eligible for other compensation, such as bonuses and equity awards.
