Job Description

As the Sr. Manager of Data Engineering based in Bangalore, you will spearhead major data engineering initiatives, mentor a devoted team of engineers, and collaborate with Data Science and Consultancy groups. This role is crucial for transforming business requirements into sophisticated data models, maintaining expansive data lakes, and ensuring the seamless operation of data flows with cutting-edge technology tools.

Main Responsibilities

• Architectural Leadership: Devise and deploy data engineering architectures, including scalable data lakes and pipelines using tools like Hadoop, Hive, and Spark.
• Project Management: Lead end-to-end management of data engineering projects to meet strategic business goals.
• Technical Leadership: Maintain CI/CD pipelines and implement best practices in data engineering.
• Collaboration: Work across functions to integrate strategic data needs into coherent solutions.
• Data Engineering Quality Control: Formulate strategies to ensure the integrity and quality of data engineering processes.
• Recruitment: Drive the hiring process for new team members, fostering a strong team capable of scaling our data capabilities.
• Optimization: Apply optimization techniques within PySpark and Hadoop environments to enhance system performance.

Qualifications

You are an ideal candidate if you have:

• A minimum of 12 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 8+ years with an Advanced degree in relevant fields.
• Extensive proficiency in Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Scala, Python, SQL, and PySpark.
• Demonstrable experience with Unix/Linux, workflow management tools like Airflow, and both SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Proven capability in leading data engineering teams and projects in the financial services or payments industry.
• Strong analytical skills to work with both structured and unstructured data sets.
• Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
