Role Overview

The Staff Adaptive Data Analytics Specialist will join a vibrant team aimed at shielding our users from Scaled Abuse, such as spam, payments fraud, and account compromises. Your work will involve leveraging data science, machine learning, and anti-abuse engineering to develop innovative strategies that protect our community.

What You'll Be Doing

• Drive strategies to tackle existing and emerging scaled abuse threats using anti-abuse automation, including heuristic rules and machine learning classifiers.
• Generate insightful reports and recommendations to enhance our safety strategies, optimizing and innovating our anti-abuse efforts.
• Create and propose projects with detailed RFCs, gaining approval from leadership to initiate new anti-abuse features and investments.
• Collaborate with product teams to pre-emptively reduce abusive behaviors in new features on Discord.
• Analyze metrics and user community reports to detect and address emerging patterns of abuse.
• Work in sync with Product, Safety Engineering, ML, CX teams to address intricate and urgent issues.

What You Should Have

• A minimum of 5 years' experience in scripting languages like Python or JavaScript, with advanced SQL skills for large datasets.
• Over 5 years of experience in combating scaled abuse online, with a proactive and innovative mindset to manage adversarial threats.
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a strong foundation in stakeholder management.
• Capability to thrive in fast-paced settings and to make critical decisions under pressure.
• Outstanding communication skills for presenting complex ideas to a range of audiences.
• Experience in conducting production-level experimentation on anti-abuse automation.
• Familiarity with standard software engineering practices.
• A passionate commitment to protecting users, coupled with a creative and positive outlook.

Bonus Points

• Experience in developing innovative metrics and Machine Learning models or feature engineering to enhance model performance.
• A strong statistical or causal inference background.

Compensation and Benefits

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $205,000 to $225,500, plus equity and benefits. Salaries are adjusted according to role, experience, and other job-related factors.
