SoFi is in search of an experienced and enthusiastic Staff Data Engineer to drive high-quality technical solutions for the Data Products team within our SIPS (Spend, Invest, Protect, Save) division, which supports all SoFi Financial Services. The SIPS Data Engineering team is dedicated to supporting data engineering and reporting for SoFi’s array of financial services products.
As a technical leader, you will spearhead the vision and strategy to construct essential data models utilized extensively across SoFi for analytics, reporting, and machine learning applications. Our mission is to empower consumers with data-driven decision-making tools and high-quality, accessible data.

Your Role

We are looking for a talented, detail-oriented, and seasoned Data Engineer who excels at tackling big data challenges. Your responsibilities will include:

• Designing and developing resilient data architectures and pipelines for data ingestion, processing, storage, and retrieval.
• Choosing suitable technologies, frameworks, and tools to build scalable and reliable data infrastructure.
• Optimizing data engineering processes to handle large-scale datasets efficiently, with solutions designed to scale both horizontally and vertically.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams including data scientists, software engineers, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver business-appropriate solutions.
• Enforcing data governance policies to maintain data integrity, security, and compliance.

This role demands a strong intersection of data engineering and analytical understanding to transform complex technical challenges into actionable business insights.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in data engineering and technical strategy.
• Proficiency with data engineering technologies including Snowflake, PostgreSQL, Python, SQL, GitLab, AWS, Airflow, and DBT.
• Experience with relational and cloud database platforms such as Snowflake, Redshift, or GCP.
• Strong expertise in Python or another data-centric programming language.
• In-depth knowledge of data modeling, database design, data architecture principles, and data operations.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to simplify complex issues into actionable plans.
• Experience in the Fintech industry is a plus.
