Job Description

We're seeking a talented Staff ML Scientist to enhance our Applied AI research efforts, focusing on large-scale data analytics and machine learning. This role is perfect for those eager to contribute to Visa's strategic vision as a leading data-driven organization. The ideal candidate will have a robust academic background and exhibit strong software engineering skills, as well as the ability to handle ambiguity, pay close attention to detail, and collaborate effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate business challenges into technical data analysis problems in partnership with product stakeholders.
• Design and implement prototypes and production code, collaborating closely with product engineering to ensure solutions are practicable.
• Utilize both internal and external data sets to explore and validate business problem solutions.
• Create data transformations and develop both custom and packaged machine learning and statistical models.
• Implement methods for adaptive learning, model validation, and A/B testing, along with efficiency monitoring in production environments.
• Automate predictive analytics pipelines to minimize manual labor in both development and production stages.
• Contribute to the enhancement of shared predictive analytics infrastructure.

This is a hybrid position, requiring a balance of remote work and in-office presence, typically 2-3 days a week, based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 2+ years with an Advanced Degree (e.g., Masters, MBA, JD, MD), or relevant experience with a PhD.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong foundation in computer science, statistics, or a similar quantitative field, especially with a focus on machine learning, deep learning, or data analytics.
• Proficient in programming with languages like Perl, Python, Java, C++, or C#.
• Experience with statistical tools such as SAS, R, KNIME, MATLAB, and deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow.
• Knowledge in handling large datasets with tools like Hadoop, MapReduce, Pig, or Hive is essential.
• Prior publications or presentations in recognized machine learning and data mining forums are beneficial.
