About the job Our Data Science department at GWI dedicates itself to maintaining superior quality in our consumer survey data and guiding our customers as they seek to understand their audiences better. We are heavily engaged throughout every step of the data life cycle, including data cleaning, data processing, data validation, designing automated data workflows, and researching new trends. The team highly respects learning and researching the latest studies, so we use a multitude of techniques from machine learning, statistical analysis, and natural language processing when building our services and features. Our diverse team, with various backgrounds, is split between two locations, Athens and London, and is continuously growing. What you’ll be doing You will be accountable for leading a small international team of data scientists and machine learning engineers, helping shape and implement our data science strategy. Your responsibilities include defining team standards and allocations, overseeing team growth through hiring or structured learning, and driving development goals. Your team’s main focus will be enhancing and extracting automated insights from our extensive archive of consumer survey data. Furthermore, you will directly report to our VP of Data Science and work closely with our Research Department on long-term initiatives. Technical We need someone strong in technical coding and comfortable in handling large, complex datasets. Knowledge in many statistical techniques and familiarity with cloud data management and data analytics services are beneficial. The essentials -Experience in managing and growing a diverse data science or machine learning engineering team. -Educational qualifications in mathematical, computational, or statistical sciences. -Professional experience in statistical or machine learning and delivering data products. -Excellent communication and presentation skills. -A high level of coding proficiency in a technical language. -A good understanding of relevant software stacks for data analytics, statistics, or machine learning. Competencies -Understanding of business strategy and application to projects. -Ability to escalate delivery problems to senior leaders on time and ensure all projects are well-resourced and managed. -Enjoyment in leading a team, communicating openly and fostering collaboration. -Proactiveness in establishing and maintaining cooperative relationships, valuing all feedback, and eagerness to learn. -Working knowledge of agile delivery tools like Trello and Jira and other collaborative tools. -Ability to work with Data Science leadership to develop an effective strategy.
