Cross Border Data Science
To ensure Visa’s payment technology is truly universal requires the success of our key banking or merchant partners and internal business departments. The Cross Border (XB) team supports these partners by utilizing our extremely rich data set, which covers more than 3 billion cards worldwide and records over 100 billion transactions in a single year. The XB Data Science team’s focus lies on creating unique solutions that directly impact the businesses of our highly analytical partners. We function in collaborative teams involving members from data science teams and varied groups within Visa across the Asia Pacific.

What a Cross Border Data Science Intern does at Visa:

The intern will assist the APAC XB Team by transforming analytical insights into compelling narratives for our clients and stakeholders, all while offering crucial data-driven advice to stimulate business growth.

  • Liaise with various roles within the company including consultants, engineers, and data scientists to tackle crucial business issues.
  • Influence business and/or marketing decisions from data driven insights and analyses, creating business impacts.
  • Advocate for data science within our partners, guiding and coaching analytical teams and sharing best practices and case studies.
  • Proactively innovate using VisaNet, unconventional data and new model-building techniques to cater to our clients' needs.
  • Lead the creation of data-driven business insights in alignment with stakeholder priorities, collaborating closely with partners for execution wherever needed.

Projects you will be a part of:
The intern will tackle a range of issues within the XB team including Visa portfolio optimization, analysis and profiling of XB Affluent customer segments, and many other invigorating XB issues where you can utilize your analytical skills to generate impact. This involves working closely with the AP XB team & Travelling center-of-excellence team (Travel CoE) on their roadmap, consulting and working closely with in-market XB teams, and partnering with strategic partners as needed.

  • Create/Introduce scalable analytical frameworks to detect and locate improvement opportunities towards boosting XB Active Cards (XB AC) at the issuer level.
  • Identify and execute growth opportunities, particularly affluent & XB portfolio optimization, and intervention opportunities, with relevant stakeholders. Conduct clustering/customer segmentation analysis to further comprehend affluent customer segments' traits.
  • Cooperate with in-market Data Scientists, Account Executives, and relevant stakeholders, enhance and use existing XB data science assets/models to encourage XB Active Cards agenda, which includes XB Phantom Traveler Models, XB Ultra-High-Spender(UHS) look-alike model and UHS attrition prediction model, etc.

 

Flexible Work Arrangement - Hybrid Position - This is a hybrid role. Hybrid employees divide their time between remote work and the office. Hybrid role employees are expected to work at the office three days a week as per business requirements.

Qualifications

  • Penultimate year undergraduate students available for full-time work for 12 weeks between May 2024 and August 2024
  • Legal authorization to work in Singapore - Visa won't sponsor applicants for work visas in relation to this position
  • Studying towards a degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Data Science, Information Technology, Statistics, or a relevant STEM/quantitative field
  • Proficiency in one or more database tools such as Hadoop/HIVE/SQL, and programming languages like Python/Pyspark
  • Experience in creating analytics solutions utilizing any Machine Learning framework
  • Experience with visualization and reporting tools, such as advanced usage of PPT, Power BI, Tableau, open-source tools, or something similar
  • Demonstrate intellectual curiosity and a continuous learning attitude
  • Previous experience in the banking & payment industry is preferred
